Let me start with I never leave negative reviews and I'm pretty sure that this is my first one. I have never had a problem with this library until today. I was picking up a book that I had put on reserve and when I was leaving the alarms had gone off and I didn't check it out. This librarian with big glasses, a bit on the heavier side, and short grayish/blondish said quite loudly (she must have forgotten that we were in a library.) “You don't get to take things that don't belong to you.” I apologized and she said again “You don't get to take things that don't belong to you.” I apologized and asked her if I had done something to offend HER and she repeated herself. She had caught other patrons' attention and made me look like a thief and that was humiliating. I know I had made a mistake and just to rub it in and make sure I “learned my lesson “ was riduclous. She was unprofessional and unempathetic and she seemed like she was taking advantage of her title. I spoke with the manager today because I noticed that the same librarian had a similar complaint on Google reviews. The manager was kind, understanding, and apologetic. She told me that she would discuss her behavior with her employee, I hope that she sticks with her word because as far as I'm concerned I was being singled out by the way that I looked more than the fact that I made a mistake.

Walked in and was greeted promptly. The ladies at the front desk did a great job assisting us even with a many people there. The only issue I had was with the computers and having them close abruptly when the time limit is up.

I love this place for two main reasons: 1. The staff is working hard to bring the community the best and the most recent books. You can literally find any newly published book here in a few days after publication. 2. The staff is very friendly and helpful. . RPL is one of the hidden treasuries of Rockford.

---------+2 Different time's l had homeless/ vargrant walk up to me in my vehicle at East state location. They need to move the bus stop next to library. Or have security out there to chase these people off the property. ---------Would anyone feel safe being bothered and people walking to you in your car?

The second I walked in I felt as though I was home. The environment here is super welcoming and inclusive. The ladies that work here are the definition of sunshine. Answered all questions accurately and with a smile. The only problem I experienced was with the computers. They are a little slow and inefficient. Wasn’t anything completely detrimental, but would like to see those updated. The whole place was very clean and well kept also. Thanks Rockford Public Library!

My 6 year old niece was so enamored with the children's section. The attendants were very happy to help with any issues. My niece and I had been to the East State branch earlier in the week and she noticed a big difference between the branches. She mentioned that there were so many more books to choose from and she enjoyed the elevator.
